Trophy-wielding dancers are celebrating after returning from a trip to Italy as UK champions.

Students from Beverly Marks Stage School in North Street, Hornchurch, made the trip to Europe to represent the UK in an international dance contest.

The group, aged 15-21, came out on top and were awarded the City of Argentario award by the mayor of the city for being the best school in the competition.

They also brought home first place for the show dance category, choreographed by Mandy Montanez, and a runners-up trophy for the hip-hop group category, which Sam Fleet took control of.

The students’ Diamonds Show Dance won best piece, and two scholarships were awarded to students Chloe Holder, who will train in America, and Jorge Skinner, who will return to Italy to train in Milan.

Manager Beverly Fleet said: “These are great achievements for young people who have trained hard to get to a level to represent our school.”
