Staff at both Queen’s and King George Hospital have banded together to celebrate their colleagues from Europe and across the world.

Steve Russell, deputy chief executive at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust made a sign which read ‘Proud to be part of the great NHS team of British, European and international staff, #PRIDE’.

It spent the day being passed among colleagues across several of the Trust’s wards and departments, garnering huge support from staff and dominating the Trust’s Twitter feed.

Mr Russell said: “I felt it was really important to recognise our diverse workforce and the contribution everyone makes to patient care at both our hospitals.

“We value the commitment of all our staff, from across the globe, who provide the highest quality of care possible to our community as part of one big team. I think the huge reaction we’ve had to this demonstrates what a strong and united team we have.”
