The borough’s residents are London’s best neighbours, a survey has revealed.

According to Experian Consumer Services, 86 per cent of Havering people answered “yes” when asked whether or not they believe that their neighbours look out for them – the highest proportion in the city.

And the borough spectacularly bucked the east London trend for unfriendliness – east London being home to six of the 10 most unfriendly boroughs, including neighbouring Barking and Dagenham.

A spokesman for Experian said that London as a whole performed badly compared to the rest of the UK, with people who live in big cities having a higher fear of crime.

The survey shows residents even more at ease with their neighbour’s than last year’s Havering Council ‘Your Say’ survey which found that 70pc of people in the borough got on well with those in their local area.
