More than 500 primary school pupils got up close and personal to a boa constrictor snake and a giant tarantula at Royal Liberty School in Upper Brentwood Road, Romford recently.

Assistant headteacher, Lisa Stuchfield said: “We have been running special activities for science week for several years, but this was the largest event ever.

“It is a great opportunity for our school to spread the excitement of science onto the next generation.”

The theme of this year’s event was discovery and invention and students had fun taking part in chemistry experiments.

The event also saw youngsters from Parklands School in Havering Road, Romford being crowned as winners of a poster competition.
