This year’s Havering Show has experienced highs and lows as yesterday’s record-breaking numbers were followed by torrential rain today.

More than 30,000 people flocked to Harrow Lodge Park in Hornchurch for the bank holiday event on its first day, and were treated to performances from Britain’s Got Talent finalist James Smith and 80s two tone-legends The Beat.

But today’s turnout was understandably low, with many choosing to avoid being exposed to the elements.

Defiant traders were still out in force for the whole day to make the most of a bad situation and residents that did brave the weather enjoyed a dog show and musical performances from Funky Voices and headliner Alexander O’Neal.

Check back tomorrow for the Recorder’s in depth coverage of the annual event.
