Young people can find out how to reach their full potential at a special event.

The Creating Brighter Futures programme is set to be launched on Thursday April 18 at Romford Market Place from 4pm to 7pm.

The council run project, aims to improve the employment opportunities and lives of young people.

Visitors can look forward to zumba classes by sports coach Rhiannon Sparrow, Mrs Jones, designer to the stars will also be hosting fashion workshops to show people how they can make their own clothes and pro-riders will be showing off their tricks on a skate ramp.

There will be a pop-up cinema where visitors will have the chance to watch a short film made by local young people as part of a film apprenticeship scheme.

The project is based around 12 key personal attributes or ‘assets’, from confidence to problem solving and curiosity to independence, which aim to equip them for the future.

Councillor Paul Rochford, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “This programme will help to give young people the tools to succeed and improve their own futures. These can be very tough times for young people just starting out, with many more people applying for each job, so anything we can do to help them achieve a brighter future is very worthwhile work.
