Dozens of families in fancy dress attended Havering Mind’s Star Wars Convention on Saturday at the YMCA, Rush Green Road, Romford.
The fundraising event was opened by Romford MP Andrew Rosindell and Darth Vader and raised more than £1,000 for the charity.
Events coordinator Ciaran White said: “We had a great time holding the Star Wars event. It was so great to see all the people who dressed up. Darth Vader was chillingly realistic and many young children and adults were mesmerised.”
Plenty of stall with gifts, toys and sci-fi memorabilia were on offer and actors, including Nick Joseph, who was in the original film back in 1977 as the Medal of Yavin Bearer, delighted fans by signing autographs.
