A mental health charity sprinted for those in need, as they raised money for people suffering with depression.

Havering Mind, based at Harrow Lodge House, in Hornchurch Road, Hornchurch, organised ‘you can’t run away from depression’, a 5km charity run where more than 200 adults and children took part to raise money for Havering Mind.

Mayor of Havering, Linda Trew, also attended the day and presented three men and three women their trophies for winning their races.

Fundraising coordinator Ciaran White said:“We were thrilled with the turnout! So many people from the local community came together and took part in this event.

“We would like to congratulate them on taking part and braving the hot weather!”

Those who took part raised around £2,300 for the charity.

Havering Mind CEO Vanessa Bennett added: “Each of the participants should be very proud that they have played their own part in raising awareness of such an important issue as mental health is.”
