The mayor of Havering fulfilled a life-long ambition on Wednesday when she was taught a special promise by a group of young girls.
The Brownies of 1st Hornchurch pack, who meet at Kim’s Hall, Vicarage Road, Hornchurch, met with Cllr Philippa Crowder in the council chamber at Havering Town Hall, Main Road, Romford.
According to group leader Nicola Street, the mayor told the group she had always wanted to be a Brownie as a young girl but family commitments prevented her from becoming one.
Nicola said: “They [the Brownies] immediately taught her the Brownie promise which she repeated and one of the newest members took off her promise badge and pinned it on the mayor.”
Cllr Crowder also gave the girls a tour of her office and a run down of her various duties.
A traditional Brownie handclap expressing their thanks for the visit was then given to the mayor.
The group meets weekly on Wednesdays. For joining details visit girlguiding.org.uk.
