Havering councillor suspended from Conservative Party following allegations of sexual assault

A former Conservative mayor has been suspended from the party due to an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual assault.
A leaked email from the party has confirmed that allegations against Councillor Melvin Wallace, who served as mayor of Havering in 2011, have been referred to the party’s disciplinary sub-committee.
It goes on to say that his membership has been suspended pending the decision.
A Conservative spokeswoman confirmed: “Melvin Wallace has been suspended from the Conservative Party.”
Cllr Wallace has been approached and has declined to comment.
