Havering Council is fully backing a London Fire Brigade campaign to help residents find out quickly whether their electrical appliances pose a fire risk.

The Brigade’s Total Recall campaign is urging the government to act quickly on making it easier for consumers to check whether their appliances are on the product recall list and for businesses to step up and change how some white goods are manufactured to reduce their fire risk.

Councillor Osman Dervish, cabinet member for community safety, said: “While most large electrical goods work safely without incident, it is best we take precautions to ensure the safety of all residents, which is a priority.

“This is why we support the Brigade’s Total Recall campaign to make it easier for our residents to protect themselves from the fire risk faulty large electric goods can cause.”
