Striking bus drivers could disrupt Havering commuters on Thursday.

Transport for London (TfL) said the 24-hour walk-out has been called by members of the Unite union in a dispute over pay with the Arriva bus company.

Some local routes, including the 128 which stops at Queen’s Hospital, and the 647 from Romford to Harold Hill, may be affected as a result.

Bus services operated by other companies will not be disrupted but could be busier than usual.

The action will take place over a 24-hour period from 3am on Thursday November 29, until 2.59am on Friday November 30.

TfL expects night bus services on Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday to run as normal.

But services throughout Thursday and night bus services on Thursday night into the early hours of Friday will be severely disrupted.

A normal bus service should operate from start of service on Friday morning.

TfL is calling for Unite and Arriva London North to expedite negotiations and resolve the dispute so that disruption to passengers can be kept to a minimum.

It is also deploying extra staff to assist passengers at various locations, including bus stops and bus stations, and to hand out walking maps.

Leon Daniels, from TfL, said: “We are sorry that some bus passengers will have their journeys disrupted tomorrow.

“We are working hard behind the scenes to provide as much detailed information and assistance to passengers as possible to minimise this disruption.

“We would strongly urge Unite and Arriva London North to continue with discussions to resolve this dispute and prevent further disruption to bus passengers.”
