Havering businesses are being advised to check their delivery and transport routes with Transport for London ahead of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Route Network (ORN) and Paralympic Route Network (PGN) will be in place on some London roads in the lead up to and during the Games.

Roads in the network will be operating as normal but will be designated so that athletes and officials can travel promptly between Olympic venues and sites.

There will be no roadworks during the Games, but the roads could be subject to temporary measures at short notice.

In Havering only a few roads, the A13 Thames Gateway, the A12 Eastern Avenue, A127 Southend Arterial Road and a section of the A12 North of Gallows Corner up to the M25 Junction are designated as part of the Olympic or Paralympic network.

In addition, there will be a number of roads in Havering not part of the network but will be free of road works during the games. There will be no Games Only lanes in Havering.

Transport for London (TfL) are offering free workshops to medium and large sized businesses in Havering who use delivery routes to and from London to keep their business running smoothly during the Games.

The workshops are aimed to attract businesses from across all sectors to help them plan, prepare and learn how their normal delivery routes might be affected. The workshops will be held on March 7 at Central Library, Romford.

Cabinet member for culture, towns and communities, Cllr Andrew Curtin said: “The Olympics Games will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for many Havering businesses. It is important that they know how they can continue to operate during the Games so that they can take advantage of the many business opportunities during games times.”
