Hardworking students from across Havering are celebrating after picking up their A-level results after weeks of anxious waiting.

The borough’s pupils proved once again that they are among the best in London with a pass rate of 99.8 per cent, pending final results from Havering Sixth Form College and The Campion School, up from 96.4 per cent last year.

Cllr Paul Rochford, cabinet member for children and learning, said: “Well done to Havering’s A-level students for achieving such great results again, I’m sure they’ll agree that their hard work and determination, as well as the dedication of their tutors and support of their parents, has all been worthwhile.

“I’m sure they are all excited about taking the next steps in their lives, whether they are joining the workplace, going to university, starting an apprenticeship or whatever it may be. Enjoy this moment and good luck to all in the future.”

Whoops of joy rang out in the hall of Frances Bardsley Academy, Brentwood Road, Romford after the school maintained its 100 per cent pass rate for the second year running.

While students at St Edward’s Sixth Form, London Road, Romford achieved an equally as impressive 97.6 per cent.

Headteacher, Rev Alan Perry, said he was pleased with the results which were in line with previous years.

He also praised some exceptional performances from his pupils including Billy Cavell, who was in a position to turn down a place at Cambridge, to study at America’s prestigious Yale University.
