A person has been arrested after living in a gas cupboard in Harold Hill for over a year.

The trespasser had been residing in a cupboard in Harold Wood Hall in Widecombe Road, and was arrested yesterday (Wednesday, July 25).

A spokesman from L&Q (London and Quadrant) the housing association who run the hall told the Recorder that officers from Heaton SNT removed the person, and arrested them for other offenses they had committed.

The Recorder is waiting for more information from the police and from the housing association about the incident.

A spokeswoman from L&Q said: “Once we discovered that a building services room at Harold Wood Hall was being occupied illegally by a non-resident, we notified the police and together acted swiftly to remove the individual concerned and to secure the property.

“Health and safety of our residents is our primary concern.”
