Harold Hill man slashed on front doorstep

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was slashed across his face when he answered a knock on his door.

Police were called at about 8.40pm on October 8 to Straight Road, Harold Hill, to reports of a man in his 40s being assaulted.

Although the suspect was not known to the victim, he asked for him by name before attacking him.

The man was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his early 40s, 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build with short dark hair.

He was wearing black clothing.

The suspect drove away from the house in a black estate car in the direction of Gallows Corner.

The motive for the assault remains unknown at this time.
