Volunteers at Harold Hill food bank raised 2,000 for their charity by completing an assault course.
About 20 people completed the course at the end of September in Bentwaters Park, Suffolk.
It was organised through Essex Boot Camp and Macfarlanes LLP, which has chosen the Hilldene Avenue food bank as its charity of the year.
The food bank donates supplies to needy families in exchange for vouchers, which are issued by police and health and social workers.
