The family of an elderly woman, who died after colliding with a car in Harold Hill last week, were at her hospital bedside when she passed away, police said.

Tragic pedestrian Bridget Lillis, 80, suffered severe head injuries on the westbound carriageway of the A12 Eastern Avenue, opposite the junction with Petersfield Avenue, at around 6pm, last Tuesday.

Mrs Lillis, of Woodstock Avenue, Harold Hill, was crossing from the south footway of the carriageway when she was struck by a Lexus car being driven by a woman.

The pensioner was taken to the Royal London Hospital, in east London, where her next of kin attended before she died the following day.

Her inquest will be opened and adjourned at Walthamstow Coroner’s Court and a post-mortem will take place at the Royal London.

The driver of the Lexus provided a negative breath test at the scene.

She was not arrested and gave a voluntary interview on Thursday of last week and she is not on police bail.

The senior investigating officer is DS Mark Robson and any witnesses are encouraged to call answerphone: 0208 597 4874 leaving their name and telephone number.
