Members from a Harold Hill archery club donated food, festive items and hygiene products to their local foodbank.
Archers from the Noak Hill Archers club in Grange Road gathered on Saturday, December 8 to take part in shooting a variety of festive themed targets as part of a competition to raise funds for the Harold Hill foodbank, before retiring to the clubhouse to enjoy mince pies and other festive treats.
Brian Lock, chairman of the club, said: “The majority of our members live in Havering and as such see our club as part of the local community.
“So it felt quite natural to want to help those in our borough who may struggle at this time of year in particular.
“I am so proud of our members who came out in force to fundraise in this way, although the choice of some of the Christmas jumpers on display was a little worrying.”
The club donated a trolley load of food on the day of the shoot and a further £262 worth of food and other items raised from entry fees and donations.
Streamline, a resource services company in Loughton also donated £300 through a connection with one of the club’s members.
