HUNDREDS of football fans queued for hours to share a few moments with West Ham United’s midfield talisman Scott Parker.
The Hammers skipper was not due to appear at the temporary club shop in The Liberty Shopping Centre, Romford, until 2pm, but fans began turning up at 10am.
First in line was Irene Llewellin who was on a mission for her grandson Dillon Thorn, 10.
Irene said: “Dillon is a true fan, but can’t be here as he is in his school play, but he loves football and told me to tell Scott Parker that he is his biggest, biggest fan.
The visit, on December 21, brought a little pre-Christmas cheer to weather-hit businesses and Scott stayed more than an hour longer than agreed to see everybody and sign all the shirts and other merchandise handed to him.
The Liberty’s general manager David Collins said: “The queue to see Scott was phenomenal, it went as far as the High Street.
“It was a pleasure to have a visit from Scott and I know that our shoppers loved it. The atmosphere in store was very exciting and it gave shoppers the opportunity to meet their idol.”
