A group of green-fingered residents and workers brighten up Harold Wood.
The group landscaped the corner of Bryant Avenue outside McDonald’s, which Cllr Brian Eagling said looked like an “eyesore” because it had previously been used as a car park by lorries.
Six months ago the street was subject to a traffic order to prevent parking on the corner. Cllr Eagling said the corner has since improved, and it is less dangerous for motorists driving around it.
The group was awarded funding by the council and Gerry Byrne, the franchise owner of McDonalds in Harold Wood, and last Thursday residents, Streetcare and McDonald’s staff were out in force to plant trees.
Cllr Eagling said: “I loved the community spirit and them getting involved. We are thankful to the staff for helping us and I am absolutely delighted that it is finally finished.”
