Olympic rowing champion Ben Hunt-Davis says he will visit Havering in the coming weeks to get fired up for a special Olympic journey.
The UK gold medallist at the 2000 Sydney Olympics will be carrying the Olympic torch through the borough during the Games’ opening ceremony.
“I’m really excited about carrying the torch,” he told the Recorder. “The Olympic movement is something I quite passionately believe in. I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in a number of clubs and I’ve seen the difference that sport can make to people’s lives.”
