Girl, 13, taken to hospital after hit and run in Rainham

A 13-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital following a traffic accident in New Road, Rainham, yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

Police were called to the scene, opposite Rainham Sheds, at just after 5pm.

London Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service attended and took the girl to an east London hospital.

Injuries are not expected to be life threatening and she is in a stable condition.

The driver failed to stop at the scene.

A police spokesman confirmed inquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
