Gidea Park dog boutique owner to appear on TV show

The owner of a dog boutique shop is eagerly awaiting his TV appearance on a show described as Dragon’s Den for the masses.
Rob Watson, owner of Glamour Pawz, Balgores Square, Gidea Park, was delighted when he was asked to take part in The Money Pit, a new show on the channel Dave where businesses can pitch to fellow entrepreneurs asking for an investment.
He said: “The show rang me and asked if I wanted to be featured and I thought it was a great opportunity.
“When you are starting to set up a business, it can be difficult to get any form of backing so it was good to have the chance to pitch our brand.”
Glamour Pawz, which sells dog collars, bowls and other accessories, has been open for a year but Rob has now launched his new brand, Dogissimo, focusing on dog coats for specific breeds including French and English bull dogs as well as pugs.
Rob said: “I realised there was a market for these kind of coats after I couldn’t find one that fitted my French bull dog Bear.
“These breeds are small but have wide chests, so the average dog coat hangs a bit and doesn’t fit them properly.
“It is a pretty niche market so I knew we probably would be alienating half of the businesses, but those who have pets would understand where we are coming from.”
On the show – presented by comedian Jason Manford – Rob pitched his brand to about 50 small business owners, asking for them to invest £10,000 into Dogissimo.
He said: “It was quite scary pitching our own idea in front of so many people but it definitely was a great experience to help us launch Dogissimo.”
To see if Glamour Pawz gets the investment, tune in to The Money Pit on Dave on Thursday November 12 at 7.30pm
