Fifteen brave fundraisers walked over hot coals to raise money for a children’s charity.

Each of the fundraisers pledged a minimum of £100 each to take on the fire walk challenge which saw them walk bare foot over red-hot wood embers around 500 degrees C.

They were raising money for First Step, a Hornchurch charity that provides services for children with special and educational needs.

The event was run by Survivorbility at the centre in Tangmere Crescent two weeks ago.

Duncan Grant, CEO of the charity, said: “We are very grateful to everyone who took part in the fire walk. It was a great evening, which included a craft fair.

“Many spectators cheered on the brave 15 participants who raised money for First Step and we greatly value their support.”
