With a passion for justice, the community, and giving the vulnerable a voice, three friends have joined together to launch an independent political party for Harold Hill.

Having bonded over a successful campaign against houses of multiple occupancy (HMOs), Jan Sargent, from Harold Hill, and Lorraine Moss, from Romford, became firm friends.

They united to fight and beat Havering Council’s proposals for a solar farm on Dagnam Park, aka The Manor, and a private developer’s plan for a multi-faith cemetery in Colchester Road.

They were then joined by Rachel Barker, who also lives in Harold Hill.

Jan said: “We found that by working together we became stronger not only as friends but as a force for uniting residents and like minded people to join together with us and stand up for what we all believe in.”

Lorraine added: “We worked so hard and had the whole of Harold Hill in our corner.

“Sadly, whilst we were working on The Manor (Dagnam Park) and our various other campaigns, we noticed that there did not seem to be anyone representing the people of Harold Hill with any passion or commitment.

“Many residents felt that they were being ignored and their opinions did not matter.

“We could not stand by and let this happen.

“Jan and I discussed starting our own party and we both felt that this would be the best way forward.”

Rachel said: “It’s a huge honour to be part of this party and working with these two wonderful ladies.

“I fully believe that the people of Harold Hill deserve to be represented by people who are passionate about the area.”

The party’s logo represents the deer, The Manor and how much parks, nature reserves, green and open spaces mean to people.

The group’s work will focus on reducing crime and antisocial behaviour, ensuring people have access to services they need, protecting the area from overdevelopment, and making Harold Hill a better place to live.
