A man claiming to be from a gas and electricity company stole a handbag and a car from a Romford woman when her back was turned.
The man, who is described as black and aged between 25 and 30, knocked on his victim’s door at about 5.30pm on Monday September 17. The 24-year-old, of Wickford Drive, became distracted by her young child and temporarily left the fraudster on her doorstep.
When she returned he’d taken her handbag, which contained her car keys. The white Mini Countryman parked on the woman’s drive was gone.
Anyone with information is asked to phone the police on 101.
