A retired programme manager from BT was overjoyed after winning £1,000 in St Francis Hospice’s lottery.

Rita Marshall, 66, from Ilford, signed up with the lottery last year, but said she never expected to win.

She said: “I signed up because the hospice is local. I’d heard of their work before but thankfully none of my family have had the need to use their services.

“I’m not typically a lucky person but I haven’t been playing for long and I’ve already won so I shall definitely get my husband to sign up too!” She plans to spend her winnings on her grandchildren.

You can sign up at www.sfh.org.uk or call 01708 771433 to buy tickets, or visit any St Francis Hospice shop to buy either a lottery gift voucher as a present or a one week entry for £1.
