Hornchurch, Romford seek league points

Ryman Premier

HORNCHURCH v Concord Rangers

FIVE successive wins for Urchins suggest they have well and truly turned the corner now.

Jimmy McFarlane’s men are unbeaten in eight games since the 7-1 debacle at Tonbridge – if you consider their penalty shoot-out defeat at East Thurrock a 1-1 draw – and will be on a high for Concord’s visit to Bridge Avenue.

Players are returning to fitness after early-season injuries as well, giving the boss plenty of options when it comes to picking his side.

Victory could lift Urchins to fourth and is not beyond them in their current form.

Waltham Abbey v ROMFORD

BORO climbed, briefly, to third last week with their success over Grays, but slipped to sixth at the weekend while on FA Trophy duty.

Their 3-1 win at AFC Totton – and the prize money – will have kept spirits high in the camp, although a much-changed side bowed out of the Essex Senior Cup against Stansted this week.

Manager Paul Martin admits the league is his priority, given his side’s fine start this season, and would dearly love to clinch a play-off place next spring.

Abbey are the division’s draw specialists, with eight in 14 games, while Boro remain the most miserly, with only five goals conceded in 11 outings.
