A teenager had to be rescued by firefighters after he became trapped in a child’s swing in a Hornchurch park.

Firefighters were called to reports of a 17-year-old trapped in a swing in Hylands Park, Hylands Way on Sunday, June 10 at 10pm.

A Hornchurch firefighter told the Recorder that the 17-year-old was embarrassed but not injured by the incident.

He said: “I think [the teenager] was quite worried. He was quite a big lad for 17.

“His friends were taking the mickey out of him and filming him.”

The firefighters had to unbolt the swing to free the 17-year-old.

“He had obviously climbed in there to use the swing and then after we got him out, he walked away a bit red faced,” the Hornchurch firefighter added.
