Firefighters called almost 50 times to car on fire outside Upminster Station

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has received almost 50 calls after a car burst into flames outside Upminster Station this afternoon (Tuesday, July 3).

An LFB spokeswoman confirmed they were first called to the incident on Station Road at 3.39pm today, to reports of a car alight.

In total they received 47 different calls about the incident.

One fire engine was called to the scene, and it is believed the fire began when the car overheated.

A number of eyewitnesses reported nearby shops being forced to lower their shutters to remain safe.

Firefighters declared the incident safe at 3.57pm.

There were no reported injuries.
