Almost 60 firefighters are battling a fire at a warehouse and block of flats in Hornchurch.

Emergency services were called to a derelict warehouse in Grenfell Avenue at 11.36am this morning and have said no one has been injured in the fire.

Half the first floor of the two storey warehouse is ablaze and the fire has spread to the roof of an adjacent block of flats.

Eight crews from Hornchurch, Romford, Ilford, Barking, Wennington, East Ham and Plaistow fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
