Firefighters battled a blaze in a historic Romford pub on Boxing Day.

Crews were called to the disused Bitter End Pub, High Street, at about 5am.

Firefighters from Romford, Hornchurch, Harold Hill and Dagenham brought the fire, which destroyed more than half of the ground floor, under control by about 9.30am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
