Ex-Eastenders actor John Bardon has died at the age of 75 at Romford Range Care Home in Collier Row Lane, Romford.

Ex-Eastenders actor John Bardon died at a Romford care home this morning.

The 75-year-old actor played Jim Branning in Eastenders from 1996 but suffered a stroke in 2007 which was then used as a storyline in the soap.

He officially left the show in May 2011.

Eastenders co-star and screen son Jake Wood paid tributes to the actor on twitter saying “Such sad news...I’m honoured to have known him. John was a gentleman and will be missed by all who knew him. RIP x”

Shane Richie who plays lovable Alfie Moon, also took to twitter, describing him as “funny, grumpy,endearing, mischievous, a massive talent” and that “walford will always miss you RIP john Bardon”.
