Dog lovers worried about their hound’s health and safety can get their pets checked and micro-chipped for free at a special event later this month.

The Dog’s Trust has joined forces with the council’s housing services community engagement team to organise the event at Dunningford Close, Hornchurch, on April 27.

Additionally owners who want to get their dogs neutered can make arrangements at the event for a reduced fee.

Cllr Damian White, cabinet member for housing, said: “A lot of Council tenants and leaseholders have dogs and we want to encourage responsible dog ownership which is why we have teamed up with the Dog’s Trust to run a series of events throughout the year.

“The next event is in Hornchurch and we hope local dog owners will bring their pets along for a free health check and, if they haven’t already been micro-chipped get this done too as, since April 2016, the law has required all dogs to be micro-chipped.”
