Green-fingered litter pickers took to the streets of Harold Hill last week to rid it of rubbish.

The Briar Residents Action Group (Brag) teamed up with McDonald’s in Straight Road, Harold Hill, and community volunteers to encourage them to take responsibility for their neighbourhood.

Havering Council’s Streetcare team also turned out to support the Love Where You Live campaign by Keep Britain Tidy.

Donned in hi-vis jackets, the team collected 20 bags of litter over the course of the day.

Gerry Byrne, of McDonald’s, said: “It was inspiring to see the community join forces to take action on litter. Unfortunately there are still people who think it’s acceptable to drop litter – it’s everyone’s responsibility.”
