Firefighters were called after a man was spotted on a first storey roof in Hornchurch, this morning.

Emergency services were called to Windsor Road, where a man was stood on the first floor pitch roof of a three storey home, at 9.23am.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “We brought him down to the ground floor and left in the care of the ambulance service and the police.”

The property was close to Towers Junior School, Windsor Road.

A spokesman for Havering Council said: “When the school became aware of a police incident nearby pupils and staff were brought inside and kept in a secure environment until the incident was finished.

“At no time was there any risk to pupils or staff.”
