Hoping to make the big time, young members of a pop group are showing they have the x factor by making it through to the live shows of a singing competition.

Charlie Dillon, 12, of Windermere Avenue, Elm Park, hopes his band Beaux Beatz will win the overall Factor Essex competition.

The Abbs Cross Academy, Abbs Cross Lane, Hornchurch, pupil makes up the band with friends Jasmine Hood and Charlee-Lou Borthwick, both 13 and Tyresse Aaron Ryan and Macey Broom, both 14.

“We would like to win it but we just our best,” said Charlie.

The competition’s creator and director, Lee Knell said: “They are doing really well. They got through to the last two live shows and have just gone into the studio to record charity single, The World’s Greatest, a cover of R Kelly’s hit.

“All the proceeds will be going to anti-bullying charity Kidscape.”

Mum Mandy Dillon said: “I’m so proud of him.

The recording will be released on Monday, November 28, and the competition final takes place at Talk Nightclub in Southend on Sunday, November 6.
