Primary school pupils were delighted to discover coaches for West Ham’s under-21 team in their classroom yesterday.

This half term, the children at Elm Park Primary School, South End Road, Elm Park have been learning about respect and coaches Anthony Glover, Adam Walker, and Cameron Anderson led workshops about the important of team spirit in sport.

The Year five and six girls football team enjoyed a kickabout with the coaches, after losing out on the Linda Galloway Memorial Trophy last weekend.

In a tense final, the game was won after 14 penalties by St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Hornchurch Road, Hornchurch.

Each year group enjoyed a visit from the coaches, where they grilled the coaches on training regimes, diet and lifestyle.

Neree Sale, ICT technician, said the day was a great success.

She said: “The kids absolutely loved it.

“They were high fiving them as they left and asking loads of questions.

“It was all about team spirit and everyone was very excited.”
