Elm Park Fiesta will have a royal twist this weekend as they celebrate Kings and Queens.

The event, on Saturday, June 16, will mark the town’s annual summer fiesta and will be held in Elm Park Parade.

The royal theme is being celebrated to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.

The fiesta will feature the king of rock and roll, an Elvis impersonator appropriately named Gary King; a Freddie Mercury from Queen impersonator Gary Goodmaze; King Kong; a prince and princess parade; and roving court jesters.

The event starts at 12pm, and will include a performance by the Saturday Dance Club at 12.30pm, the Hornchurch Drum and Trumpet Corps at 2pm, and the prince and princess parade at 4pm.

There will also be face painting and a bouncy castle, as well as a chance to buy some limited edition Elm Park memorabilia.

The Elm Park stamps will be on sale at Elm Park Florists from 9am on Saturday. They cost £1 each, £15 for half a sheet or £100 for a whole sheet, as a complete sheet is a collectible item. Limited edition Elm Park model buses are also on sale at selected shops including the florists and The Hobby Shop for £9.99.

Organiser Tina Death, said: “Lots of shops are joining in and there is plenty going on. Last year we had about 2,000 people turn up, and are expecting a similar amount of people this weekend.

“People are looking forward to the parade, and I have my Queen Elizabeth I outfit ready. The stamps always sell well, and this year we also have model buses, which are good presents for Father’s Day.”
