Elm Park Fiesta was a royal success over the weekend as they celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The event on Saturday was held in Elm Park Parade and marked town’s annual summer event.

It featured the King of rock and roll, an Elvis impersonator appropriately named Gary King; a Freddie Mercury from Queen impersonator Gary Goodmaze; King Kong; a prince and princess parade; and roving court jesters.

Jo Gentry, from the Elm Park Regeneration Group, which helped organise the event, said: “The weather held up, and it was a good turnout. A lot of people said they enjoyed it and the children loved the court jesters. There was even a prince and princess parade and the mayor said she enjoyed it.”

There was also a bouncy castle, face painting and a number of stalls. Rosie Harrison, nine, and Stephanie Harrison, 10, helped their granddad Barry Mugglestone to sell plants on a stall at the Elm Park British Legion. They helped raise £100 for the poppy appeal.
