Children from an Upminster school enjoyed a visit from a rabbit, a chicken and two guinea pigs last week.

Oakfields Montessori School was visited by two veterinary nurses, Sarah Brandrith and Danielle Redgrave, from Wylie Veterinary Care, in Upminster, and brought the animals, Hop, Mabel, Buzz and Woody, for the pupils to see.

They talked to the children in the nursery and kindergarten class about what it is like to be a vet and a veterinary nurse, how to look after animals, what they eat and why and why animals have to got to see the vet.

Nursery manager Lynne Chivers said: “We are so grateful to Sarah and Danielle for taking the time to bring the animals into the nursery.

“The children are learning all about the people who help us, and it was lovely for the children to see for themselves what veterinary nurses do and how they care for our animals.”
