HAVERING College students downed creepy crawlies to show their support for former pupil Stacey Solomon as she battles bugs in the Australian jungle.

The brave students munched on Thai green curry crickets and barbecue-flavour worms as part of this week’s fun bush tukka trial.

Stacey, who studied performing arts at the college, shot to fame on last year’s X-Factor. The talented 21-year-old singer has now hit our TV screens again this year for ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

She is now tipped as the hot favourite to win, with friends at her former college putting their taste buds to the test in support.

A Havering College spokesman said: “Judging by the response of students to our bush tucker trial, I am not sure many of them could stomach being out in the jungle with Stacey.”

One of Stacey’s former teachers, Sandra Broxton, said: “When I first heard Stacey was going in the jungle, I knew her exuberant personality would shine through and that she would give her all in the challenges that she faced.

“But equally, I know Stacey to be a thoughtful person who can be a good listener if others get down and need a shoulder to cry on.”
