Newtons Primary School students hoped to make their mark on the future when they buried a Jubilee-themed time capsule.
The capsule, containing letters and pictures about the children’s lives in the Diamond Jubilee year, school year photos and Jubilee themed objects, was buried in the grounds of the Orchard Village estate in Rainham.
Among the artefacts was a DVD showing the first stage of the estate’s regeneration.
Headteacher Lynn Lowe said: “The time capsule was a great opportunity to celebrate the events taking place in London this year, but also an opportunity to involve the local community, especially the children and parents who have seen the Orchard Village estate’s regeneration day by day.”
