Frances Bardsley students spent a day looking into the future and learning about their possible career choices.

Year 10 girls took part in the school’s annual 16+ Careers Day, where a variety of engaging workshops and activities outlined some of the career opportunities and pathways available to them. On the day there were talks from “Aim Higher” student ambassadors about going to University, with the inevitable questions about finance.

Mr Patel, Head of Careers, said: “We think it’s important to focus on helping the girls understand the real life demands of the world of work and prepare them for their future.”

“We do a range of events throughout their time in the school and today’s event is closely linked with helping the girls get the most out of their work experience in September and prepare for the decisions they will begin make in Year 11.”

Prospects Careers Advisors were on hand to guide the girls through the qualifications maze and discuss the decisions they will have to make to achieve their ambitions.

A team of communication experts from BT coached the girls in interview techniques and then put some of them on the spot by making them use their new found skills in practice interview sessions.

Mr Patel added: “The feedback we get from pupils and their parents is always very positive and we are particularly grateful to organisations such as BT who support us every year.”
