Havering has been ranked highly in Ofsted’s new league table of local authorities and their primary schools.

The borough has been ranked joint-25th of all councils nationally and 79 per cent of pupils were found to attend primaries rated as “good” or “outstanding”.

It was also ranked number 11 in London.

Cllr Paul Rochford, Havering Council’s cabinet member for children and learning, said: “This is brilliant news, and is tribute to the very hard work carried out by our teachers and schools staff to maintain the highest standards of primary school education for our young people.

“Of course, it’s helped by the hard work of our primary school pupils as well. This is a tremendous result for the borough and one we can all justifiably feel very proud of.”
