Young athletes from Suttons Primary School were named “mini Olympic champions” after they went head-to-head with four other Havering primary schools.
R J Mitchell Primary School, Scotts Primary School, Elm Park Primary School and Benhurst Primary School were also competing for the title at the “Sanders Mini Olympics” held on the Sanders Draper playing field.
Youngsters took part in Olympic-style events like the shot put, high jump and relay race, and each team had its own “Sanders Mini Olympic” strip. Overall, Elm Park Primary School won silver, while the R J Mitchell School came third.
There was no fat lady at the end – instead, the Sanders Draper “signing choir” performed for the athletes after trophies and certificates were handed out.
