»Harold Wood pupils got arty and produced a keepsake collage for their school.
Year 5 pupils from Harold Wood Primary School attended art workshops and worked with Year 8 pupils at Redden Court School over the past few months for the project.
They studied the work of famous Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky and put their own drawings and paintings together to form a dramatic and colourful collage.
‘Power of art’
They worked with Meg Ryan, head of art at Redden Court School and director of Rainbow Nation, the school’s charity.
She said: “We were delighted to welcome the Harold Wood pupils and offer them an opportunity to develop their talents.
“This project encouraged teamwork and an awareness of the power of art to inspire us all. We plan more events in the autumn.”
Sue Wenham, a teaching assistant at Harold Wood Primary School, said: “It was a very enjoyable experience and the children really loved it.
“They produced some beautiful work and put in symbols that meant something to them, like their favourite things, football and hearts.
“The Year 8 pupils put all their work together in one big collage, which is now in school. It looks fantastic.”
