Trembling hands and sweaty palms are to be expected this morning as teenagers in Havering collect their GCSE results.

We have photographers and reporters at schools across the borough capturing the morning, but be sure to send in your pictures, results and any stories you think might be interesting.

In Havering last year, 81.5 per cent of students achieved five or more A* to C grades, up from the previous year’s 78.8 per cent. The number of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades including English and maths dropped to 61.1 per cent, from the previous year’s 63.6 per cent.

One of the borough’s success stories was Bower Park, which received praise from minister of state for schools, David Laws, who sent a letter congratulating their 2012 results.

He identified the school, in Havering Road, Romford, as being amongst the most improved schools in the country.

It read: “I hope that you are able to continue this rate of progress, so that one day soon I can write to you to commend you not only for being one of the most rapidly improving schools, but also one of the highest performing schools on this measure.”
