Pupils at Branfil Primary School paid their respects to their forefathers who made the ultimate sacrifice at a special ceremony earlier today.
The school held a two-minute remembrance silence on their sports court, Garwood Court, which was named after Frank Garwood – an air raid warden who was killed in Cedar Avenue during the Second World War where the school now stands.
Earlier this week, pupils had been putting their artistic skills to the test to create bright poppy wreaths to display on the day.
Louise Fisk, deputy headteacher, said: “Each class produced a beautiful art display based around a poppy wreath to reflect on the school’s value of peace. School councillors have been selling poppies in school this week and helped to display the poppy wreaths for parents to view at the end of the school day.”
